Round 8 of the British Superbike Championship took place at Cadwell Park over the bank holiday weekend. During the weeks following Round 7 an opportunity arose to bring Danny Buchan, the team's 2014 Supestock 1000 Champion, back to riding for Tsingtao Racing, but this time in the Superbike class.
A Kawasaki ZX-10R was built by us here at MSS Colchester Kawasaki in a very short time and Danny was able to compete on a bike with which he is familiar. We had a few teething issues though first day, but by the start of day two we had a bike which was getting close to what we needed to go in to qualifying.
Qualifying 2 was our target and we achieved this and start alongside John Hopkins and right behind both showdown contenders on the factory Tyco BMW’s.
Race 1 – a good solid 11th place was a demonstration of hard the team and Danny had worked during the weekend and also pushed us up the grid to a starting position of row 4.
Race 2 – 14th in race 2 did not show the real potential that we had, there were a few issues during the race that held us back, however a very fast pace saw us score points in both races, with the great result that we overtook John Hopkins in the rider’s championship.
Overall the team enjoyed a good weekend, running a bike in the Superbike class is very demanding but the results were satisfying, knowing that there is more to come from Danny Buchan and the team.
